Want to get involved in amateur theatre in Solihull? Whether you want to perform on stage, work backstage, help create our sets, props and costumes, or support our productions front of house, there’s a place for you at SSA Drama.
SSA Drama is a local theatre group based at The Edge Theatre, Alderbrook School in Solihull. We also perform our plays at Alderbrook, while our annual family pantomimes are performed at The Dovehouse Theatre, Langley School.
How can I get involved?
Acting
Fancy performing on stage? Our productions give members opportunities to audition for a wide range of roles, from our plays to our annual pantomime.
Directing
Have a production you’d love to direct? We welcome members interested in directing and developing their own productions with the society.
Backstage
Theatre doesn’t happen without a backstage team. Help with scenery, props, stage management and all the other jobs that keep a production running smoothly.
Technical
Without lighting or sound, we wouldn’t have a show. Help create the atmosphere on stage and make sure everything looks and sounds its best, whether you’re experienced or keen to learn.
Front of house
Help welcome audiences, check tickets, sell programmes and merch, and make sure everything runs smoothly on performance nights.
Production team & creative
If you enjoy choreography, musical direction sets, makeup, costumes, design, photography, marketing or something else, there are plenty of ways to get involved without performing.
Rehearsals
We rehearse on Wednesday and Friday evenings, and some Sunday mornings nearer the show. These take place at Alderbrook School, Blossomfield Road, Solihull B91 1SN.
Membership
Membership is charged on a per-show basis and is currently £100 (as of Autumn 2026). We offer a reduced membership fee for non-acting members.
